In order to apply to become a torchbearer for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay, you must complete the applicant identity confirmation procedures. Please note that applicants may apply only once through the NTT recruitment system.

3. You will be contacted by the NTT Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torchbearer Recruitment Secretariat via the e-mail address submitted at the time of application registration. Please note that if you delete this e-mail address after submitting your application, it will be impossible for the Secretariat to contact you and your selection may become invalid.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay Items of Consent
for Torchbearer Application

To apply for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torchbearer, you are required to agree to all of the following items.
Read carefully each of the following items. And if you are agree, place a check mark (✔) in the box next to "Agree to the Privacy Policy".

1. Protection of personal information

(1) In recognition of the importance of personal information, any personal information collected by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) from Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Runner applications and other personal information related to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Runner applications will be handled by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws and regulations, within the scope necessary for recruitment and selection activities for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay, its implementation and operation, and communicating with and responding to inquiries from applicants themselves or their recommenders in connection with such activities. In addition, in managing personal information Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) will take security measures such as control of storage locations, restriction of access, restriction of removal of information, and prevention of unauthorized external access, in order to prevent incidents such as leakage and loss of such information.
Personal information collected by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) may include sensitive personal information such as disability status and other details (including the content described in self introductions, descriptions of motives for applying, and letters of recommendation). Whether or not sensitive personal information is included in a Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Runner application will not have any disadvantageous effect on the results of recruitment and selection activities.

(2) In accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws, regulations, etc., Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) shall provide all personal information related to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Runner applications (including sensitive personal information) that it has collected to the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games through transmission via various means of telecommunications or on external storage media, within the scope necessary for recruitment and selection activities for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay, its implementation and operation, communicating with and responding to inquiries from applicants themselves (including guardians of minor applicants) or their recommenders in connection with such activities, implementation and operation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and activities related to future development of the Olympics.

(3) In accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws, regulations, etc., Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) may provide personal information it has collected (not including sensitive personal information) within the scope necessary for recruitment and selection activities for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay, its implementation and operation, and communicating with and responding to inquiries from applicants themselves (including guardians of minor applicants) or their recommenders in connection with such activities to NTT DOCOMO, Inc., through transmission via various means of telecommunications or on external storage media, for the following purposes. In such a case, NTT DOCOMO, Inc. shall handle the personal information provided to it in accordance with the following Privacy Policy established by NTT DOCOMO, Inc., in addition to the following purposes of use. 1) To provide information on various promotional campaigns and events conducted by NTT DOCOMO, Inc. and for purposes of information provision and advertising related to other products and services (including products and services of third parties other than NTT DOCOMO, Inc.) as judged appropriate by NTT DOCOMO, Inc.

2) For use in operating and improving the products and services of NTT DOCOMO, Inc., planning new products and services, and conducting surveys and other marketing-analysis activities.

(4) The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games shall handle personal information related to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Runner applications collected by NTT in accordance with the Privacy Policy established by the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It also may provide such information to third parties as described below, in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws, regulations, etc.

1) Provision to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC)

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will provide all personal information it has received from Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) (including sensitive personal information) to these parties through transmission via various means of telecommunications or on external storage media, within the scope necessary for implementation and operation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games and activities related to future development of the Olympics.

2) Provision to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay Presenting Partners (Coca-Cola [Japan] Co., Ltd., Toyota Motor Corporation, Nippon Life Insurance Co.)

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will provide all personal information it has received from Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) (including sensitive personal information) to these parties through transmission via various means of telecommunications or on external storage media, within the scope necessary for implementation and operation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games and activities related to future development of the Olympics.

3) Provision to partner media etc. (newspapers, magazines, television broadcasters, Internet media, etc.)

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games may provide names, ages, residential information (limited to names of countries, prefectures, and municipalities), reasons for self-nomination, and reasons for recommendation included in the personal information it has received from Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) (including sensitive personal information) to third-party partner media etc. (newspapers, magazines, television broadcasters, Internet media, etc.) and to subcontractors of the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Requests for disclosure, correction, cessation of use, cessation of provision to third parties, and deletion of the information you have provided, as well as complaints, will be accepted by the NTT Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Runner Recruitment Office (tel. 0120-34-2020; hours: 9:00 am- 6:00 pm, closed Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays). Please contact the Recruitment Office for information on detailed methods. Note that in some cases requests for cessation of use, cessation of provision to third parties, deletion, etc. may result in cancellation of your application itself.

(5) In accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws, regulations, etc., Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) will jointly use with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation, NTT Communications Corporation, and NTT DOCOMO, Inc. all personal information collected by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) (including sensitive personal information), within the scope necessary for recruitment and selection activities for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay and implementation and operation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay. In doing so, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) will take security measures as the party responsible for management of the information.

(6) Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) may provide to subcontractors personal information (including sensitive personal information) collected within the scope necessary for recruitment and selection activities for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay, its implementation and operation, and communicating with and responding to inquiries from applicants themselves (including guardians of minor applicants) or their recommenders in connection with such activities. In addition, the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games may provide to subcontractors personal information (including sensitive personal information) collected by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) within the scope necessary for recruitment and selection activities for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay, its implementation and operation, communicating with and responding to inquiries from applicants themselves (including guardians of minor applicants) or their recommenders in connection with such activities, implementation and operation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and activities related to future development of the Olympics.

(7) Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) shall implement necessary and appropriate processing to prevent outflow or leakage of personal information (including sensitive personal information) concerning applicants (including their guardians and caregivers) and recommenders and for other purposes of security management of personal information and shall not use such personal information for other than its intended use or provide it to any third parties (other than joint users and subcontractors), except when there are reasonable grounds for doing so under laws, regulations, etc.

(8) Matters for which no specific consent terms are specified for information handled by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) in applications will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy established by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) separately.

2. Rights of likeness, privacy rights, etc.

- Video, photographs, and audio including likenesses of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch runners, filmed or recorded by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, or parties designated by them, and personal information (limited to names, ages, addresses [limited to names of countries, prefectures, and municipalities], self-introductions, motives for applying, and reasons for recommendation) may be released to the public or used for commercial or noncommercial purposes (including various methods of use such as in tangible or intangible media such as television, newspapers, magazines, the Internet, and social networking services as well as new media developed in the future) free of charge, without any restrictions on time or locality, by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), or parties designated by them, in accordance with the privacy policies and other policies established by each of these parties, for activities related to implementation and operation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games and activities related to future development of the Olympics. Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch runners shall consent not to assert rights of likeness or privacy rights with regard to such acts of use or similar acts.

3. Disclaimers etc.

- Neither the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games nor Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) shall bear any liability for injuries, illnesses, losses, or damage suffered by Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch runners on the date of the relay, unless due to willful acts or gross negligence on the part of the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games or Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT).

- On the day of the relay, any injuries or illnesses arising among Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch runners will be responded to through necessary measures such as first aid or emergency transportation. In such a case, any hospitals to which Torch runners are transported will be asked to provide information on examination of the runners.

4. Cancellation and Change

- It is hereby acknowledged and agreed that the scheduled relay may be canceled or changed to any other schedule due to any disaster, bad weather, incident or accident or for any other compelling reason.

5. Consent of Guardian

- All applicants with the age of less than 18 as of March 1, 2020, shall be required to submit a letter of consent by his/her guardian. This application form shall also serve as the letter of consent, and a consent of such guardian may be confirmed.

6. Health Condition

- If any runner fails to have the health condition to safely run with the torch for the torch relay held on his/her own on the day of running, such runner may be restrained from running.

7. Scheduling on Day of Running

- On the day of running, it will take approximately three (3) hours from the gathering to the dismissal, including the running time. All runners shall secure his/her own schedule therefor. All runners shall be gathered and dismissed at the place that will be separately advised after the election of the runners, and no participation or drop-out in the middle will be authorized. The detailed schedule will be advised after the last part of February 2020.

8. Proxy Running (Assignment of Runner Eligibility to Third Party)

- In no event shall any third party be authorized to run in replacement of the original runner (i.e., proxy running). If after being elected as a torch runner, the runner has become no longer able to run for any reason, such runner shall contact the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee.

9. No Involvement of Anti-Social Force

- No authorization to run shall be granted to any organized crime group, member of such group (including any person for whom five (5) years are yet to pass after he/she lost his/her membership), quasi-member of such member, crime group-affiliated company, racketeer group, group engaging in criminal activities under the pretext of conducting social campaigns, crime group specialized in intellectual crimes, member of any other organized group likely to be involved in any terrorism or other criminal activities, terrorist (including those suspected as such) or other person comparable to any one of the foregoing (collectively, the “Antisocial Force”).

- No authorization to run shall be granted to any person who has an inappropriate relationship with any Antisocial Force, e.g., who uses any Antisocial Force, is involved in the maintenance or management of any Antisocial Force, has any inappropriate relationship with any Antisocial Force that should be socially criticized.

- For the safety of the torch relay, the information on the applicants for the torch relay may be inquired through the government authority or organ or whatsoever.
